Longford Young Writer of the Year Awards 2008
The results have been announced for the Longford Young Writer Award 2008. This competition, now in its third year, was open to those aged eighteen and under attending schools in County Longford. The competition forms part of the development programme for creative writing throughout the county which aims to encourage the children and teenagers of Co. Longford to express their creativity in poetry and short stories. It was organised by the Longford County Arts Office and generously sponsored by Longford County Council.
The Award Ceremony, at which the winning entries were announced, took place on Wednesday 10th December in Longford Library. First, Second and Third Prize were awarded in each of the six categories. In addition, up to ten other entries received Highly Commended Certificates.
The Longford Arts Office would like to congratulate the prizewinners and to thank everyone who participated in the competition. We also wish all the young writers in the county well with their writing in the future.
